Sites included in the database pertain to fine art, design, architecture, applied arts, media, theory, museum studies and conservation, as well as professional practice related to any of these areas. ARLIS/NA
Members of the arts information community in North America and worldwide will find information pertaining to the Arts Libraries Society of North America (ARLIS/NA) at this site. Using keyword searches, retrieve information on departments, chapters, conferences, reviews, and news, as well as other ARLIS publications and external Web links.

Art & Craft Shows Net Event Search

Art Imagebase at the Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco
Sponsored by the Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco, the Art Image-base consists of more than 60,000 images of renowned works by over 15,000 artists worldwide. Images may be accessed by keyword searches, the artist's last name, country or period. Images are accompanied by information about the work and the artist who created it. Users are also provided two display options to view the image.

Art Planet The Internet Fine Art Directory!
Art Planet, the expanding Internet Fine Art Directory, includes over 7,500 galleries and artists as well as more than 16,000 works in a searchable on-line database. Users may search by a single keyword or by artist-related fields (first name, last name, style, medium, century and more). Tabular results include style, medium, artist name, and company carrying the artist linked to additional information including other artists carried, contact information and, when available, link to the company's homepage.

Arthur from Getty Information Institute
The Getty Information Institute presents ARTHUR (ART media and text Hub and Retrieval System) as a user-friendly tool to search and access 30,000 images with accompanying text taken from 300 Web sites accumulated into five different online databases. Visitors may search for images by image similarity, contextual similarity or keyword queries, and keyword searches may include Boolean operators, truncation and parentheses for the retrieval of phrases. Users having difficulty selecting the right search terms may consult the online vocabulary, which compiles numerous terms for artists, places and art-terminology from three different databases: ULAN, the Union List of Artist Names; the Getty Thesaurus of Geographical Places; and the Art & Architecture Thesaurus.

Created and maintained by the University of California, INFOMINE: Arts, Humanities & Social Sciences compiles over 900 Internet resources, electronic text archives, e-journals, online subject guides and databases into one searchable catalog. Users may retrieve information by keyword or focus on subject or title fields.

ArtsEdNet

The Exploratorium is the official site of the Museum of Science, Art and Human Perception in San Francisco, California. International Directory of Art Libraries
The International Directory of Art Libraries allows you to access contact information from more than 3,000 library and library departments worldwide with specialized holdings in art and architectural works. Internet
Internet Art Resources is an on-line database of information pertaining to galleries, museums, art shows, art fairs and art schools that is updated daily. Visitors may search for the latest art news, news that is a week old, or news over 30 days old. The database may be searched by keywords utilizing the Boolean operators AND/OR by exact phrase.

National Gallery of Art Artist/Title Search
Peruse the vast collection of the National Gallery of Art in Washington D.C. without leaving your computer desk. Visitors may search for their favorite works of art by the artist's last name and/or keyword in title. Users may also limit results to images only.

Sargent at Harvard Search the Database
Over 400 drawings, paintings, sculptures and related works by American painter John Singer Sargent (1856-1925) which exist in the Harvard University Art Museums and Portrait Collection may be accessed at this site, Sargent at Harvard. Images and accompanying text may be retrieved by full text or keyword queries or by accession number. Descriptive text includes accession number; title, medium, date, and dimensions of work; and credit line.

Smithsonian Web Museums & Organizations
Access any of the Web sites of Smithsonian museums and organizations, including the National Air and Space Museum, National Museum of American Art, National Museum of Natural History, and the National Museum of American History. Results are presented as titles (with summaries for advanced results templates) linked to the resources including magazine articles, photo essays, bibliographies, reviews, reports, and events, among others. The Internet Art Database (or dART for short) compiles art works from more than 2000 Web sites created and maintained by artists, individual collectors, dealers and galleries. Simple searches can be executed by the first and last name of the artist, title of the work, medium used, price, year created, style, subject or simple keyword.

Web Gallery of Art Find a Collection
The Web Gallery of Art is an Irish site that offers access to more than 5,000 digital reproductions of European paintings and sculptures from the 11th to 16th Centuries. Most images are accompanied by biographies of the artist and critiques of the art work featured. Visitors may search for particular works by artist, time-line, school, form, type, title and Boolean-aided keyword searching.

World Wide Arts Resources
The World Wide Arts Resources compiles sites aimed at educating both young and old about art. The database may be searched by a simple keyword query.
