Art Imagebase at the Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco

Image-base consists of more than 60,000 images of renowned
works by over 15,000 artists worldwide. Images may be accessed

period. Images are accompanied by information about the work
and the artist who created it. Users are also provided two

Art Planet The Internet Fine Art Directory!
Art Planet, the expanding Internet Fine Art Directory,
includes over 7,500 galleries and artists as well as more than
16,000 works in a searchable on-line database. Users may
search by a single keyword or by artist-related fields (first
name, last name, style, medium, century and more). Tabular
results include style, medium, artist name, and company
carrying the artist linked to additional information including
other artists carried, contact information and, when
available, link to the company's homepage.
Arthur from Getty Information Institute
The Getty Information Institute presents ARTHUR (ART media and
text Hub and Retrieval System) as a user-friendly tool to
search and access 30,000 images with accompanying text taken
from 300 Web sites accumulated into five different online
databases. Visitors may search for images by image similarity,
contextual similarity or keyword queries, and keyword searches
may include Boolean operators, truncation and parentheses for
the retrieval of phrases. Users having difficulty selecting
the right search terms may consult the online vocabulary,
which compiles numerous terms for artists, places and
art-terminology from three different databases: ULAN, the
Union List of Artist Names; the Getty Thesaurus of
Geographical Places; and the Art & Architecture Thesaurus.

National Gallery of Art Artist/Title Search

Sargent at Harvard Search the Database
Over 400 drawings, paintings, sculptures and related works by
American painter John Singer Sargent (1856-1925) which exist

Web Gallery of Art Find a Collection
The Web Gallery of Art is an Irish site that offers access to
more than 5,000 digital reproductions of European paintings
and sculptures from the 11th to 16th Centuries. Most images
are accompanied by biographies of the artist and critiques of
the art work featured. Visitors may search for particular
works by artist, time-line, school, form, type, title and
